The End Of Summer Bummer BBQ
It’s hard to believe that the summer months are coming to an end, but we wanted to send it out with a bang. And, boy did we ever along with the Ronald McDonald House!
Our End Of The Summer Bummer BBQ was not only a necessary get together, but it was for a great cause too! This is our second year, in conjunction with the IBAA – Insurance Brokers Association Of Alberta, raising funds for The Ronald McDonald House Charities. Last year our office was able to raise $2300.00 at the end of the Broker Challenge, and this year we wanted to knock it out of the park. We even had Allie, from the RMDH charities, come by and join us for the afternoon after hearing about our latest fundraising efforts.
100% of the funds raised during this BBQ went directly to the Ronald McDonald House, so obviously it made all of the burgers and baking taste that much better!
When we weren’t slingin’ burgers or stocking the bake sale we were talking about Prostate Cancer. The MANVAN was on site to administer free PSA tests for all of the men over 40 who stopped by. We were lucky enough to have the MANVAN join us, along with our friends from The Motorcycle Ride For Dad. So many great things going on in one space is enough to make your head spin, but we were able to keep it all together, and most of all keep everyone fed!
Tristan Walker was also with us for the afternoon, and it was wonderful to have him come by! Tristan is part of the Olympic Doubles Luge Team and an amazing athlete. You will undoubtedly be hearing more about him from us as we continue our sponsorship.
Sending out the invitation to our BBQ was a little short notice, we weren’t sure what the response would be like. But, we were hopeful because it was getting shared around like crazy. When the day came, we had so many people stop by, we lost count
Additionally, Young & Haggis generously donated another $500.00 directly to Allie, who joined us from The Ronald McDonald house. The MANVAN administered 21 PSA tests, and our little event was event featured on Global News during an awareness campaign for Prostate Cancer.
We absolutely cannot thank you enough for your generous support to this amazing cause. Our hearts were so full, knowing that 100% of (are you ready for this?) of $1675.00 raised will be going directly to the Ronald McDonald House Charities. It was lovely connecting with our friends, companies, and neighbours over delicious food and the giving spirit.
We want to thank everyone SO much for coming out support The Ronald McDonald House!
